Hey, I'm selling my 1995 honda civic coupe and a buddy of mine wants to trade his 91 crx si as a partial trade alkong with some cash.
my questions are as follows:
the car has a ZC engine..how reliable are these and how much torque does the engine produce, i know it has 130hp.
secondly, how hard/expensive is it to find a jdm rear seat for crx's? is it worth it....i don't really like the idea of a two seater...let me know...thanks a lot!

The rear seat from what i have heard is not in american crx's because its wasnt a safe backseat. its extremely small and unconfortable. you could call it more of a Decorative item :) torque on the zc is 108 lb-ft @ 5700

130HP? I am assuming you have the DOHC ZC then, those are fairly reliable, out of the JDM integra's if I am not mistaken.
I have had no problems with my engine to date, (its comprable to the USDM d16a6)

Not only integra's, but civics/crx's also. Make sure it is the JDM version, which bolts right in, the American ZC (from integra's), does not bolt in, and is poop (in comparison).
The ZC is a DOHC engine, I never herd that they ever made an SOHC version?.
I think it is more likely that the rear seat is safe, but Americans are simply too large for it, the Japanese typically have smaller bodies. I see them for sale all the time, but it may take a few weeks to find one that has all the parts included.
I think the ZC would be the best engine to build for turbo, but I don't have the money to find out. If you are going to be beating on it, you'll probably be looking forward to a rebuild, guranteed it's been beat on before you got it. You can buy another one for just a few hundred dollars (you won't need computer, or tranny).
I initally refused to buy a CRX because it was a 2 seater, but I did, and it's a badass little car. I would like a back seat, but I have no regrets not having one, I've actually found a few positives.
