anyone got any suggestions for a new performance exhaust for a D16A6 1990 Civic Si ? its probably not really worth it, but what else am i gonna spend my money on? acctually... if anyones got any better ideas where to start first, let me know. the only thing ive put on it is a cold air intake.

*stuck with sohc :grinyes:

dc header, hi-flow cat, resonator, 2-2.25" alumnized pipe custom bent to dynamax muffler...

After you do this, and you like what you've got and need to change the timing belt and/or waterpump, get a lightweight pulley set. If you need to replace the clutch install an exedy one with a lightweight flywheel.

IMO, the sohc 1.6 si engine with mpfi has much more potential than the dpfi 1.5 engine without ever having to switch heads or add vtec...

stuck w/ sohc???? :dunno:

the a6 is a awesome little motor imo, many options for making it fast.

should i stick to a dc header or should i buy any kind of performance header? hmmmm, the dynomax exhaust is probably my next step even though its not the most important. my tailpipe is like... an inch and a half in diametre and it looks pathetic...
also, the reason i was looking down on my sohc is because everyone ive talked to never had anything good to say about them.

if you got any cheap (in price, not quality) parts to suggest that would be awsome because my income is not as good as i would like it to be :P

hey there is a lot of potential out of single cams. don't let everyone's opinion influence yours. it's YOUR car, not their's. my friends single cam can beat all the stock b16's in town.

sure there's a lot of potential with single cam...but not NA:shakehead

best bet before you start doing anything is to have a plan...if you want to eventuall do a motor swap...then save your $$$ for that instead of getting an exhaust setup that will net you only 10bhp...

I disagree. My car was plenty fast when it was all motor high compression. And that was without the bigger diameter exhaust, lightweight flywheel and CAI.

I agree about the having a plan and doing a swap. If you're going to swap, then don't bother because the header won't bolt up to the new motor.

Don't knock an all motor single cam. Having a dohc engine isn't exactly heaven on earth.

you got to admit b series will always over power d series in the long run. what you did was smart with a d series but not so smart because you could have made almost twice the power on a n/a b series. but i have to admit i would love to spank a v8 and then a b series all in one night with a single cam turbo.

The only way this is true is if both d and b had the same mods. There are tons of sohc engines spanking dohc engines and you don't need a turbo to do it.

Think about it this way... I bought my car for 2,500 with an engine that had 11.0:1 cr pistons, metal headgasket, aem cam gear, crane cam, unorthodox pulleys, intake, exhaust, header, ignition and a lot of rice. Other than the rice, the car was a ton of fun and I'll never forget the look on the dude's face with the b16ed crx with the custom body kit molded on when he tried to race me and I pretty much walked him up to 100mph. This was with the car untuned... The only difference in my set up is the stock compression pistons and I have a better exhaust, cai, clutch and flywheel. So the car is almost the same but more reliable. Now, are you still going to tell me that I could've spent the same amount of money for a swapped crx and got more power? I don't think so...
