Cam????

im sure this thread has been posted many times so sorry.... but i want to get a cam for my car and im not sure what to get. it a 96 ta lt1 6sp. i have magnaflow catback and am also thinking about headers. what should i get? thanks

How do you plan on using your vehicle and what expectations do you have out of the cam?. There are a million different cams for a variety of uses. You have to decide what you expect out of your car power wise/fuel efficiency/streetable, emissions wise before anyone recommends any cam you to you.

i say the LT4 hot cam is the most popular cam for that.

well i dont care about fuel mileage because i have a daily driver that gets good gas mileage, and emissions dont bother me either. i just want to get more power and like the sound when they have a cam...

Do you want a moderate or more aggressive cam? Like Formula said, there are a shitload of possibilities, from off-the-shelf cams to custom cams. Strip or steet use? Somewhat streetable or an all out racer? Also, what type of valevtrain are you planning on running with the new setup?

well im lookin for a streetcam. i hear good things about lt4 hotcam kits, but i cant find where to buy it.

really. i always check for shit on my car but they never have anything. actually i just bought a hotcam for my quad off of ebay. ill have to check it out

Summit racing sells them and so does www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) and I believe jegs does as well. If you really like over paying, you can even get on from any GM dealer. The LT4 hotcam is a good all around cam. Its not the most aggressive performance cam out there but will give you a nice bump in performance while keeping your car streetable.
