Ok, I sold my '97 RS... And am buying a '91 Talon TSI
... The guy who has it now, said he burned out a stage III clutch, b/c he didn't drive it hard enough (only launched at the track, laid back in the city)... I knwo him, and that's his style... he wants to keep it a sleeper, wait on someone to talk crap, and throw some money on it... and make him something...
Now, the car...
has a turbo timer,
FMIC
MBC
metal head gasket
walbro 255lph and possibly injectors
M****(can't member, wanna say Mozone) exhaust
upgraded BOV
and is boosting 17 psi...
I wanna know what clutch would be the best value/price for this car... as I haven't ever driven it and don't know what would be best... he suggested going back to a stage II... I know the stock won't hold up, but didn't know if I should get a I or II... I do think I wanna keep it a sprung hub clutch, as it will be my daily driver...
Thanks

It's all preference really, and what you can find. I have an ACT 2600, I got it pretty cheap and i know it's a good clutch. It's a heavy duty so if you mod your car alot it'll hold up.
Also I have never heard of burning up a clutch because you don't drive it hard enough. That guy must have just been a really shitty driver on the city streets.

That makes no sense to me. He maybe fucked it up chattering it all over, but he should have known better than to just let it do that all the time. I vote for the ACT 2600.

ok, well I talked to him... yeah the clutch messed up b/c it chattered too much... he never launched in the city, and it would make the car shake really bad b/c it engaged so heavily... the pressure plate is what went out... not the disc (to my understanding)...
I didn't get an answer soon enough... so I went to Advance and ordered a Zoom Stage II... I got it for $350 b/c of tax break/discount...
I think if I am to put another in it, it will be the ACT 2600... but for now, this zoom will do fine...
I'm also doing a little research on the centerforce clutches, as I have heard they were really reliable...

IIRC there was a big write-up about how shitty ACT 2600 was. the springs in the plate where falling out... i cont find the link... But i would go with a cluchmaster... they got my vote for best cluch! they also move the pressure plate to a more sharper angle so its easier on the throw out bearing...THUS, Helping to prevent "DUN DUT DUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!"...CRANKWALK... but then again, its a 6 bolt right?:silly:

thanks for the advice... I bought the zoom, so I have awhile before my next clutch (hopefully)... and by then I should have a little more knowledge under my belt... and yeah mine's a 6-bolt...
