How oong do I have to wait?

I just got my ITR body done. This is the second time that I used Tamiya's paint. I was suprised on how fast it dried and how shiny it is. Thr problem is that I have the orange peel effect around the roof and the areas around the window. Since I don't have any polishing compounds on hand, I was thinking about using toothpaste. I heard it works pretty good. Then i was going to use a scratch remover and after that I would apply formula 2001, a car wax to my ITR. My question is, how long do i have to wait before i do the rubbing.

Wait at least 7-10 days

turmio's right... rubbing compound doesn't do much besides making the surface shinier...

... if 2000 grit doesn't give good results u might wanna try 1500 grit...
... 1200 grit gives u swirl marks that are hard to get rid of...
... rubbing/polishing compound restores shine after sanding...

Doesn't rubbing compound with 1500-2000 sandpaper give good results? I heard that if you just put a few dabs of polish/rubbing cmpd and lightly sand with 1500-2000 that it gives really good results.

Yes you HAVE to wait 7-10 days, it may feel dry on the surface but the paint underneath still needs to dry, the paint really won't be fully cured for atleast a month, but if you try sanding or rubbing now you may end up getting "burn marks" or even worse, finger prints. Depending on what paint you use, water based, oil based, etc. the paint may actually never fully "dry". Just be patient and wait, I can't tell you how many models I've scewed up by being impatient. What I usually do is paint the body first, that way by the time I'm done working on everyhting else the body is ready for sanding and polishing. Boy I wish I hadn't left my LMG polishing kit in Connecticut!! It went up to 12,000 grit!!
