Alrighty you guys have helped me fix everything from windows to sensors. But this new problem has my mechanic stumped. I have a 99 gp gt 3800 and you can be driving and happen to look down at speed and gauges and the rpms are sitting and not moving (as if the car is turned off) and the Trac Off light is lit, the car makes no noise and gives no warning and if you turn it off and restart it, it fixes it? I am wondering if this can be causing any problems or should I not worry about it??? Also I recently replaced my factory radio with an aftermarket and when I did and put everything together, my air conditioning reads in celcius now inside and out temps, the dealer says it would be up to $300 is there any fixes for home????

I've heard of that happening on some Grand Prixs when you install an aftermarket radio. You may have to do a wiring mod at the climate control unit where you add a jumper wire to force it back to read farenheit.

I believe there is a switch in the climate conrol head that switches it from Celcius to Farenheit that you may have bumped when installing the radio.
On the guages, did it do this prior to the radio install, and does the car stall when the guages go flat or is it still running?

Yep, I remember now, but i thought it was a switch, not a wire. I guess that's what I get for thinking,

You can see how good my memory was I thought it was a jumper but all you do is disconnect a wire which basically permanently hardwires it. I'm still trying to figure out how the problem develops. I'm not about to pull my radio to find out or mess with the digital climate control system.
We may not know the reason but we sure know how to fix it.

We both had the basics of the fix, just not the exact specifics. You were closer, so you win. The first round is on me if I come to El Paso, or you come to Flint. It would be interesting to find out the cause, as it is a little bizarre. I've had my radio out to fix the display backlight bulb, and had no issue. It must have something to do with wiring aftermarket stereos.
