Durango shifts hard in/out overdrive

I recently had my auto transmission rebuilt. The vehicle was bought in AZ and moved to CO. It shifts weird/hard in/out of overdrive at times when we don't want it to. The shop that did the work told me to take it to the dealer and have the transmission 'flashed'. This will reset it's logic and it will learn how we drive in CO. Has anyone ever heard of this and is it worth the money?
