Well folks, finally go the beast on the road during night time and noticed a few lamps burned out, and need a little help on replacement.
The backlit area on the radio other than the volume, tuning knob and station indicator are out. What' the best way to get at them ? The radio, like others has the theft lock set up so I don't want to screw any thing up.
Also, the door panel light (pass side on door) is out. How do I get into that ?
Does the cover just pop off or what ?
Being anal on paint, etc., I removed the lower weatherstripping on each door as well as the third door, and I was surprised !! Rust had started on the inside the weatherstripping area on lower door seams. I got to it in time, took a abrasive wheel to the areas, took off the paint and rust bubbles and am treating it with many layers of cold galvanizing zinc compound. It's the spray on kind by rustolemen (sp?). I replaced the spray tip with the nozzle tub/tip from a can of carb cleaner. I could also poke the tip into all the hidden areas of the door's and really get those inner hidden areas as well.
Ya all may want to check your units out and do the same in preparation for winter.
Looking at the roll on bed liner from auto zone (hurciliner I think ) any input on this ? yeah, i'd like to get a custom spray job from a shop but funds are limited ?
99 K1500, Z71, 5.7L, extended cab, full options LS package.
Thanks,
Stan
