Does anybody know if having steel intercooler piping will cause me to fail the visual smog inspection here in cailfornia? Also I saw this DIY on DSMtuners on how to convert the accordian style snorkel into a steel intake pipe. is that illegal as well?? of course the emmissions vacuum lines are still attached..

The intercooler piping should not cause you to fail the visual inspection, neither should an intake. As long as all the emissions stuff is still hooked up you should be gravy.
But in any case you should keep your stock crap just incase. If you for some reason fail the test, you should just pop the stock UICP back on and try again.

Uh. Ok. I think I can answer that question.
Yes, you will fail CA visual. Why? I went to get my spyder smogged 2 weeks ago (I live in San Diego), and the guy wanted a CARB number for the GReddy IC pipes, and for the FMIC itself.
You may pass visual if your smog guy is less of an anally retentive prick as mine is.

Most GReddy parts are CARB legal, and most of the time the CARB Stickers comes with the product itself, if not there is probably a way to find out the CARB numbers.

There are alot of things that are actually CARB legal, like intakes and things that can never be CARB legal like, adjustable cam gears. But I'm almost 99% sure that intercooler piping is one of those things that is CARB legal. If I'm incorrect please let me know.
