My 86 Accord makes a grinding clunk noise when I shift it in and out of park. Everything else works great. All other gears work good and the fluid looks good. Any ideas what it might be?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Have someone shift it in and out of gear while you watch the motor with the hood up.
Watch for unusual amounts of engine rock, look at the roll restrictor behind the motor, see if it's intact. Make sure the exhaust isn't hitting something when the motor jumps as the gear engages. Might try torquing it up in gear against the brake, and make sure you aren't dealing with a broken mount or something.
Maybe having your head under there when the sound happens will lead you closer to the source.
Thanks.
