I acquired another DSM today

So my buddy Mike's partout isnt going to well and he said he was going to just sell it as a whole. Its complete minus the turbo that is going to vanilla gorilla when we can find a mother fuckin box. Its black, 100k miles, TSI AWD, and ran fine until we couldnt find out why it died. Well, hes selling it to me for $700. I think the block and head is coming out of the purple talon and the black talons head and block is going into the purple one. I will be gettin a full 3" exhaust, engine, tranny, x case, rear end, etc. I am pretty stoked. Now I can be hard on shit and not have to worry about finding a replacement. I almost want to keep switching shit over to the black one until it works, but the body on it looks like hell and a half. Yay, now I have two DSMs to rip apart!

haha you own 2 dsms and neither of them run... Sometimes I wonder why I love these cars so much, and then I remember when I get behind the wheel.

I totally agree. The 1g's are ugly as hell, and compared to a 2g, it is unbelievable that they are of the same origin. But then after you look at it for a few hours, they are actually really nice cars.

I think I have a plan... a couple. Let me know what you think about them.

1) I think next summer I am going to pull the engine from the black car and put it in the purple car. The purple cars original engine will then be built as I have time and money until I grenade the black cars engine.

2) I pull both engines, take them apart, use the nicest of each parts, and do a fresh rebuild.

I guess before reading this, I was leaning toward the Plan 1, but now that I read it, I am thinking Plan 2. That way I know all the shit is in good order you know? Comments?

So I think I am going to take the best parts of each and make one. Man, the shop is going to look crazy next year, I am going to need to get a couple more benches for all the extra parts. Turning the Black Beater into a dedicated CF track car would be sweet, but I just kind realized that I dont hardly have enough money for one DSM. I would have to start whoring myself or pushin to support another. I think the extra parts would be nice as hell anyway. That way I could sell some to get some of my money back and put it towards link and I could have a spare tranny/engine incase I break shit.

Sounds like a good plan you got there. I'm sure It will be nice to have a parts car. I wish I could find a 2g AWD parts car with a complete drivetrain for real cheap. I'd do the AWD conversion on the spyder.

Congrats on the new dsm....I wish I had a 1g too....those cars a very sexy...not as sexy as a 2g but definatly sexy.....and black is the best color on cars....when it is clean....

I need the roller for the Alternator belt. Where the belt runs from the harmonic balancer/etc to the actual alternator there is a roller there that keeps the belt from moving around to much. Mine is all sqeeling right not because it's missing that roller and there is just a big ass screw sticking up right now. I need the roller and the nut that holds it on. If you look at the motor and the alternator belt it's on the top side, you will see what I am talking about.

Tensioner is on the alternator itself, this is just a roller that stops the belt from travelling.



How much do you want for it?

Hows the passenger side turnsignal thingie? Mines has rust inside it....somehow:screwy:.

:lol: Yeah, you can have that turn signal deal. I need the drivers side one because the one on the Purple talon is broken. The interior sucks, its basically non-existant. However, I have two back seats and if you want the front seats, they're yours. Let me know man, I can try to get the out of here before I go to college if you really want them.
