I need help from someone who knows about Car Deck installation...

I recently bought a JVC MP3 CD Car Deck (KD-G720) from bestbuy for my 1989 Honda civic (hatchback). Now, I'm trying to install it. I have all the wires connected but the problem im having is that when i take the faceplate out and put back in, the lights on the faceplate comes on then fades away within 3 or 4 seconds and then after I cant turn it on. Also when I press the 'dsp' (display) button then that also lights up the lights on the buttons and stuff and just fades way and i cant turn it on. The cd is going in and out w/out a problem. but it just that its not turning on and playing anything.

I followed : http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf : to do the wiring. Does anybody know what am doing wrong ?????

Any help anyone??

Thanks in advance..

Regards,
Thush.

Go to your neighborhood Honda dealer and ask the parts/ service guys nicely for a generic stereo wiring diagram. Colors should pretty much match up for your civic, this is considering you had a factory installed radio and the wiring wasnt changed. I would scan in the print out i got from the dealer out of a FSM, but i lost it.

how did you connect the wires? At the least you should use crimp connectors. Dont twist them and tape together, makes for a lousy connection.
