Adjusting Valves/Lifters

Hey guys, got a question for you. My engine has been running a little rough, and I am pretty sure it's my lifters. That clicking noise has been getting much much worse, and I think I need to adjust the clearance on my valves/lifters. Just curious first of all if adjusting this myself is possible (reading some places says that most late model Jap cars have adjustment screws on the valves and want to know if this applies to our cars). Any information would help out because it is getting real annoying and people keep looking at my car when it idles because they think its knocking real bad and I have to keep telling them that it's my lifters. Thanks
PS. The engine still runs strong, so I dont think its anything too serious, and mostly just a noise thing that I want to get fixed.

SEAFOAM
i looked at the can and seafoam can help remedy sticking lifters. put some in the crankcase (where the oil goes) drive it around for 5 minutes, and change the oil. leaving that stuff in there could screw it up royally.
that's all i know though.
