Broken Remote - FOB

I am sure that I am not alone in breaking the key ring from the FOB on my remote. In my case it is a 2003 Olds Silhouette with a single power sliding door. Has GM remedied this problem yet? I would be willing to pay more for a FOB that won't break, we have already broken 2 of them. When I look on eBay, most of the ones that I see appear to be broken as well.

Anybody have any solutions, a different way to attach the ring, tryiing to think out of the box here...

for 4 years I have used those little egg shaped change purses that you squeeze to open the fob stays inside and it also protects it if dropped . These things are made of soft plastic and can have a ring to connect to the keychain the dollar stores carry them
