Civic Hatch Vs. Matrix

I recently picked up a 1991 civic hatch cause the wife stole the sebring from me, I got a ZC motor Flowmaster catback exhaust, goldline lowering sprinngs, and ACT stage 2 clutch and gutted everything.Any how my neighbor and I have been back and forth about whose car is faster; so last night we decided to settle it on the streets.so he pulls his '03 Matrix out and I follow him to a spot in Vacaville, Ca. We find a red light some 15 minutes into the trip he pulls up and we agree to run up to 60 mph and see what happens. Light turns green and the Matrix launches good to a 1 car length lead, I run 1st all the way to 7.5 rpm and dump 2nd right as I past him and took a 2-3 car length lead and never looked back.:nono: Light #2 we decide to go a 1/4 mile to the next light. He launches and I dump from 3.5 rpm and I took him right off the line 1st gear I had him by 2 car lengths by 3rd I had him by 4 car lengths and held it to the end of the race. we shut them down around 95-100 mph.
The race was a huge wake up call I realize that I need to drop a B16 in sooner rather than later, I pulled away alot slower than I thought I would so the car will get the motor by the end of next month. I mean a kill is a kill but need some Horse power.:grinyes:

b series motors are things of the past..........think K series......lol

Good kill. What is the size of a ZC motor? I'm assuming that they are 1.5 liters, but i'm guessing.

This must not have been the Matrix XR-S, as i've read that those put out a healthy 180hp.

I think they are 1.6...that might be the jdm motor though....if it was an xr-s I still wouldnt be suprise on the out come.....you have to think hp to weight ratio on this one....

ya it is a 1.5 Liter and I dont believe the xr-s

^it could've been the AWD one, XR? is he auto or manual? i believe all XR AWD are auto, the XR AWD came with 123 hp and the base FWD came with 130 hp, 2600-2900 lbs, both these models are like.....17 sec cars....

it was an automatic and he wasnt AWD cause he pulled the E brake to do a spin and locked the rear tires, would that stall an AWD car I assumed he was FWD

^ok, so he either has an XR fwd or just the base fwd, so those are about 130 hp (less with ze auto), oh yeah and welcome to AF! i see you joined last month, welcome! oh yeah and if you look around, there's another street racing section here in the honda section, enjoy :thumbsup:

Thanx for the welcome, feels good to talk with other car tuners such as my self. He is talking bout turbo charging his Matrix I dunno if he hould being an automatic and all.......
