I have no idea why your streering is hard when this happens, but your speedometer and your taxi meter is run off of the speed sensor on the transmission. check the connection where your taxi meter is connected to the speedometer circuit, you might have a bad connection there. Also when this happens, does your check engine light turn on and/or does your transmission start shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear?

i already told that any help would be appreciated highly but never expected that would be that much prompt thanks anyways
check engine light is on for more than a year now, this situation arose about a week ago ,chek light is for o2 sensor , so i guess tht would not relate to it ,i was thinking to change thw belt do u suggest it could be helpfull ,bcoz this night i found out the more flexible than it is supposed to be ,i think it would be now on hit and trial basis

your car probably has speed sensitive power steering and you speed sensor in the transmission is dropping out causing it to think the car is not moving there for doesn't need to "lighten" the amount of pressure needed to turn. also causing you meter not to work.

I don't think it's your belt at all, a lose belt it always lose. However I do agree with fleettech about your speed sensor as that is what I was getting at. Most of the time when the speed sensor fails it will trigger your check engine light, but since your light is already on for other reasons you would not notice this. This is what I would do next. Find someone or a shop that has a scan tool and have the car scanned to see if you have a P1039 or P1500, P1501, P1502, code stored in the car's computer, and if this is the case replace your speed sensor.
