New to the forum...

Does anyone know when the WRX STI will be available in the U.S.?

Will it be available in a sport wagon?

Any comments regarding the wagon vs. sedan would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,

The STI will be available in the us in 2004. It will only come in the sedan model, so be ready.

If you want my opignion in sedan vs wagon... Iw ould definatley take the sedan...for may reasons...one its faster than the wagon, and personally i think it looks better, and also correct me if i'm wrong its wider than the wagon, so i sticks to thje raod a little better.

Hope that helps,

Super

This is a topic of MUCH debate.

Everything is rumor on this. We know it's coming, but when is a guess. Supposed insiders promised all year the Evo and the STi would be here by the end of 2002. That's been pushed off until 2003 now.

Evo folks are now 90% sure the Evo will debut in winter 2003 becuz it's widely believed Mitsu is going to air the first Evo ads during the Super Bowl.

If you go along with the accepted chain of events, the Evo will hit the dealers (at the earliest) around Feb 2003. Subaru, which apparently has planned all along to debut their STi after the Evo, so that they can make last minute tweaks to be sure it's competitive with the Evo, should be out with it within six months. This means maybe August 2003 at the earliest.

Many rumors state that Subaru is further delaying STi's release as they plan to debut an Impreza facelift with this car. If they can make it look like many of the artist's renditions that existed back in 2000, they will win over a lot of fans. As it is, I would buy one over the Evo because I've always felt a loyalty to Subaru. We own a 2002 Outback now, had a Legacy GT before that and if it wasn't for the screw job my Subaru dealer wanted to do on me, I would have a WRX now instead of my S4. Am I complaining - hell, no. But my car cost about $12-$13k more than a WRX would have cost. I think the WRX would have been a more fun to drive car, though likely not as fast (I'm chipped, w/other mods, pushing 320hp, 0-60 in 4.8).

I came from an Eclipse GSX and always loved that car, except that at the 6 year point, it was starting to feel old fast.

Let's cross our fingers for the STi! My hope is that by the time I can realistically consider selling my car and moving on, Mitsu and Subaru will have got into a hp war and we'll have things like the Evo Zero Fighter, with 320-340 hp and STi's with similar numbers.

Lets hope...
