Engine Mounts?

Hey everyone.....just general questions because NO ONE I know has a mazdaspeed. I bought a 2003 Mazdaspeed about 3 months ago.
It seems the person that had it before me did all sorts of half ass mods such as crappy super glued down pipes and all sorts of things.
My main question is I had my exhaust literally snap and break off right after the cat. Poor car sounded like a semi. Took her in and was told the snap was caused by a broken engine mount (the thing looked like it was going to crawl right out). I know this is a common thing with vehicles, but Im wondering if its a common problem with this perticular car? I know a bit about mods but not the engine repair and mounts. And is it possible for something like that to snap the exhaust like that? I just thought I would get an opinion because I was told this would completely fix the problem, after they replace the back mount, they are going to reinforce and weld the exhaust.
Any advice or opinions? I guess they are taking my baby completely apart to fix the mount and its going to be a 4 hour job and DA*N expensive!!!! (i just want to be sure this fixes her)
Thank you all, I bow down to those that know more about my car than I do :worshippy (gimme a couple more months owning her, ill get there)

I have seen about 4 in the past 2 years at the mazda dealer. It's a normal thing because the supporting bracket for the down pipe will break first.
your exhaust manifold bolt on the right corner will break and you hear a exhaust leak during cold start and goes away once warmed up. I seen alot of guys use poly insert to help with torque steer(energy suspesion). I wouldn't even waste money modding this car. the cheapest would be a boost controler boosting no more than 9psi or you will hit boost cut or worst boom. do more research on line beside going to forums, don't believe every bullshit in here.
