Odd starting problem

Ok I got and 88 stang LX and ever since i got it it's been nothing but problems. First problem when I park at a small up hill incline it doesnt want to start like it's not getting gas. Even with a full tank. but when it's on a down hill incline or level it will start right up. Thats not that main problem though. I tryed to start it and it was turning over. I turned the ignition off and took the keys out and it still kept trying to start until it ran outta juice. I took the battery cables off, let it sit for an hour or so, and put the cables back on and it still kept trying to start even though the keys were in my hand. I am mechanically uninclined and it's sitting at my friends apartment and I need to get it out asap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Pls help

i'm thinking its either your starter solenoid or the ignition switch, disconnect the small wire(from ignition switch) to the solenoid if it stops cranking then you're having power coming over from the switch when it shouldn't. If it stays on give it a love tap to see if it turns off. Sounds to me like the solenoid is probably stuck on.

check your grounds. have you ever changed the starter soleniod on the fender or the starter before on that car? it probably is the soleniod on the fender..

I agree..Now he'll have to replace the starter since it ran until it was "out of juice".

THE SELINOID ON THE FENDER WILL ONLY BE A TEMP FIX CK THE SMALL RED WIRE THAT PUSHES ON TO THE POST OF THE SELENOID WHEN CAR IS OFF THERE SHOULD BE NO POWER GOING TO THAT WIRE AFTER THAE CAR STARS THERE SHOULDN'T BE POWER ON THAT WIRE IT JUSTS OPENS THE CONCTION IN THE CELINOID AT START UP i HAVE REPLACED MINE 5 X SOME LASTED LONGER THAN OTHERS BUT STILL FAILED PROBLEM IS IN IGN/IGN SWITCH/KEY/ALARM i CAHNGED ALL AND IT FIXED IT (TO CK SELENOID TAKE ALL WIRES OFF THE SELENOID AND CK FOR CONTIUITY FROM POST TO POST IF IT IS CLOSED SEND 12V TO SMALL POST CHK CONTINUITY THERE SHOULD BE CONNECTION REMOVE VOLTAGE SWITCH SHOULD CLOSE AGAIN)

but there is still that problem of starting on the hill. Can that be fixed with the starter work? Or is that like a fuel pump or something.

mine also did that but only with less than 1/4 tank I replace the fuel float/sender in tank seems to be better my son drives it and he hasn't said anything (6 or 7 Mo ago)

something I haven't seen mentioned here yet is that the ignition switch could have physically failed. I have a 93 stang that I have replaced 3 ignition switches on because the metal, wrap-around tongs that kind of crimp the metal housing of the switch to the plastic portion are too soft and eventually give out. The switch itself has a little ball bearing, a spring, and a bunch of metal plate contacts that can get misaligned or even break. Once mine went out and my car wouldn't crank, but stayed in the accessory position. Perhaps your ignition switch is stuck in the start position. It's located on the steering column on the right-hand,lower side and can be removed by a torx tip with a hole in the middle. Any parts store will have an assortment of those. If anything, see if you can remove enough plastic on the column soyou can see the switch. If you see a gap between the plastic and the metal sides of the switch then that solves one of your issues.
