89 Speedo out

I have an 89 4.3 2wd (auto) and my speedo went out. Replaced the speed sensor on the end of the tranny. Still doesn't work. Also throws a code 24 occasionally. Tried looking in Chiltons but it doesn't say much about the circuit that I can find.
