Has anyone used translucent red on the amber portion of their P10 tailights? (not including the backup lights of course) The red/clear euro's are great, but too expensive to import.

I saw it done on a three series, which has yellow turn signals. It looked really good. I was actually suprized how good it turned out. the guy at the performace store said it blinks red and you can't even notice the amber

My concern is you would end up with two different shades of red, even if you did the lower red parts too. Or it ending up too dark (I don't like the smoked/blackened look). Any idea what the other guy used for his tint?
There are a number of sprays specific for this purpose(permanent and temporary) as well as other stuff that cabe used. And I believe there was a company in CA that used to produce a red tinted film, but their website is gone.

Well, the place said to be sure it matched, they would paint the whole taillight to make sure it matched. They used some expensive japanese taillight paint though.

Yes I think I know the product. It runs about $25. Then there's stained glass tint that runs about $6. If I do it I'll post pics here.

Oh, when I had my civic, I used the 6 dollar krylon stuff from the arts and crafts store. It didn't come out as good as the japenese stuff. it did the trick, but it didn't have that shine to it like the japanese taillight paint does.

Did you finish it off with several layers of gloss clearcoat? That's where the shine would come from.
Do you have any pics from your civic's tailights?

I only know of one product that is supposed to be permanent, the others including the Krylon product produce a film that can be removed. What was your experience when you used the Krylon stuff?

Aluke, you also have to realize that Swonder used Krylon on clear tail lights, not over amber. I don't know if it makes any difference.

Well like MoReace said, I used the Krylon on all clear taillights. as for the quality, It never came off in the rain, snow, Sun or anything. But it is not as shiny as the taillight paint.

oh yeah, also, it was really easy to use. It was my first time using translucent paint, and the coats stuck well, and were even.

Aluke, u think u'r gonna try the all red tail lights? I'd be curious to see how they look. I would make a pic of it on adobe photo shop as a test, but my program is all messed up from a virus. keep us informed.

It's not at the top of my list (I have a lot of current projects lined up), but I may do it before the the end of the Summer. I was hoping others might have done it and could post pics. I'll keep you updated.

if you are going to spray the tail lights red, make sure you spray everything, including the existing brake lights so they are all the same color. and make sure you use clear coat after, so it will be shiny and not dull. anyone know how to take out the tail lights? :D

Just a little something on this...
Just make sure you check local laws about that.
I dont think lights in the front are supposed to be red....
Plus, you dont want to confuse any other drivers to
think its the ass-end of your car....just be careful bout that,
although im sure it looks cool.

This is for the rear lights and I belive rear red blinker are legal anywhere in the US, some cars come w/ them stock. I don't think anybody was going to do it in the front.
