Hi all,
I got 8 brand new lifters on their way out here. We all know what those sound like at 120K miles.(TICK-TICK-TICK-TICK!!!) Im gonna clean out and change the oil and anti-freeze/coolant along with my new lifters. I've never been very specific on engine oil type/weight before I found this wonderful site.

So.......
I want your suggestions on the best weight of oil to use. The car has sit a couple years. It has 120K miles. Before it sat, it was driven 110 miles a day to work and back. Now work is only 3 miles down the road. That's about all the driving it will be doing aside from the occasional drive to town, which could range from 50 to 140 miles round trip each.(we live in the sticks) I want something that will help give the car a lil extra protection for those occasional trips to town but also good for short driving to work every day. I noticed a few people saying they used 5w-30.

What are your suggestions??????

THANX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT-
Ive always used 10w-30 in summer, and 10w-40 in winter. Not sure why. Thought 40 wt. was thicker I guess. I wanna start fresh with your suggestions. Thanx!

I'm no expert on this since I've only had 1 metro. I bought it new in 96 and have put 173,000 on it. I aim to change the oil at 3k, sometimes it's 4k but never 5k. I use 5W30 Havoline.
I live in W.I. so he have cold and hot weather. It's had lifter tick for as long as I can remember, but fortunatly my exhaust is load enough I don't notice, or I have just gotten used to it. I think the engine has a decent amount of life left in it because by the time I'm due to add a quart,it's usualy time to change it.
