URGENT!!! Stereo problems

OK... now for the most part, i know pretty much how most of the things work on my stereo as far as the electrical wiring and stuff goes. But for some reason my stereo has stopped working. I took it out and found that a fuse was blown so i replaced it yet still it doesnt work. I checked the fuse for continuity and it was as it should be so the problem wasnt the fuse. I put my original factory stereo in and that also didnt work although the interior illumination lights came on when i turned on my lights. So now im really stumped. I dont think its the stereo because the original doesnt work either. I dont think its the harness because the illumination wire has power goin to it. And its not the fuse cuz i replaced and checked it.

Does anyone have any idea i could try to figure out whats wrong or could help me out at all. I only want to take it to a stereo dealer or electrician or whatever as a last resort.

the lights on the OEM stereo are on a different circuit (fuse). You have blown a fuse somewhere else - check ALL your fuses

there are some fuses under the hood too. It is either that, or you have pulled a wire loose from it's harness somewhere

ok... ill look at that. also, my friend told me to try reseting the circuit breaker. is the circuit breaker in the same place with the fuses under the hood and if so how do i reset it?

if you have a circuit breaker ......... you will just have to flip the lever or knob to close it. On some home types, you have to turn it off to reset it, before turning it back on. The only thing you would have a circuit breaker for is your amps main power line - I am not aware of car manufacturers using circuit breakers, but I could be wrong.

ok, ive looked for and cant find the circuit breaker. i think its because i dont have one and im running my amp of an 80 amp fuse anyway. i also checked all the fuses in the box under the hood and they are all fine. u mentioned earlier about a wire coming out of the harness somwhere. i have the trim panels, knee bolsters, and center console out of my car and i think i can see all of the harnesses. would the wire be obvious if it were pulled out? instead of pulling more things apart would it make sense for me to test the wires with a voltmeter to see if there is a current running through it? im really stumped and i dont want to be taking it to an electrician or something like that.

also i saw that the power and ground cable for the deck go through a small black rectangular shaped unit about an inch and a half high and half an inch wide. On the side it says "denso" and then below that "12V". it only has four wires running into from a harness that connects to the bottom. there are 2 yel/red wires and 2 black wires. im assuming these are 2 power and 2 grounds. There is also another one plugged into the fuse box in the car. does anyone know what these are and if they could be the problem?

A blown fuse is not you're problem. A blown fuse is merely a symptom of another problem. I would say you have a short somewhere in the circuit (most likely internal to the radio, or somewhere after the fuse)...
