Help - AC Evaporator Replacement

I would appreciate some help or the referral to existing information.

I own a 2000 Grand Cherokee and the AC evaporator leaks. I need to replace it, and I am forced to do it myself as the dealer has quoted me an arm-and-a-leg to do it.

Can anyone provide me with a link or a reference to the manufacturer's instructions on how to go about it?

Also any other advice / tips / ways of doing it would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Are you sure? Positive? You got to take the whole AC housing apart, maybe dash also. Also discharge if not already, evacuate an recharge. The part is not cheap either. Please note, this is the small Cherokee forum also, the XJ model.

Best regards,

A good factory service manual or link below is the best stuff.

Best regards,

Yes I am sure. I took it to Chysler and paid $100 to have them tell me the problem. I am now trying to save on the 4-digit repair price they have quoted me.

Can someone point me towards an online 2000 factory service manual or something else online (link, previous write-up, whatever) that can walk me through the process.

Thank you very much.

The Haynes manual has a step-by-step process for replacing the evaporator. You can get one at almost any auto parts store for about $15.
