Driver door weld busted

the top hinge weld busted on my driver's sided door. Door still opens and closes but doesn't shut tight. The only way to repair seems to be a reweld, but metal is very thin and I'm not sure it would hold. If I do get it welded, should any electrical engine components be disconnected to avoid shorting out while the welder is grounded to the truck. Thanks in advance.

I've had to reweld both of mine. They breakwhere the door metal meets the factory weld. I opened mine up, put a floor jack with a 2x4 and jack thelatch end up until the break is closed up and start welding- with a MIG of course. After you get enough welded to support the door take the jack out to see if it needs to be tweeked. If it aligns good finish welding. You can weld places that weren't welded at the factory to make it even stronger. I used a piece of sheet metal to shield the interior from sparks. While you are there you may as well do some reinforcing on the lower also. I did mine about 2 months apart some 2 1/2 years ago and haven't had any reoccurances. Your local auto parts store will probably have some touch up spray to help hide the repair
