I have a 1999 Taurus and the car stopped. The tranny shifts but wont move. I heard of a GEM Module. Is this an option, or is there another electrical fix. The original symptoms are that it would shift hard, overrev at times. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?
Take it to a tranny shop. A GEM module would not be the problem.

Sounds like Johnny has it wired and I also believe it died from, . . . who knows what?
"The original symptoms are that it would shift hard, overrev at times. Any suggestions?" First, I have a question, then a suggestion; How long has it beed doing that anyway? Yes Sir, I have a suggestion. Next time it's talking to ya', LISTEN TO IT THE FIRST TIME IT UTTERS A STRANGE SOUND and don't wait until it goes kaput to seek attention for whatever ails it. Situation with it over revving and shifting hard, . . . WHEW! That poor tranny is slamming gears and that ain't the way it's suppose to do it's job. Continued slamming in gear only serves to further destroy parts and escalates the problem big time and a simple repair eventually turns into a big bucks tranny rebuild.

There is more. All this started and ended in about a week or so. There have been other things going on which promted me to beleive they are electrical, not mechanical. The wipers are screwy sometimes, the dash lights hesistate coming on, and it blows the superfuse in the engine compartment often. All these started occurring first, then the tranny started acting up. I was just wondering if they could all be related.

"I was just wondering if they could all be related." Way beyond my level of expertise but one of our pros will come along and give you an answer. Off the top of my head, . . . whatever is blowing the superfuse isn't good and indicates a big time short and if you could find it and fix the short then see if it still acts up. I should think you'd have a 'check engine light' on and they could pull the error codes. The CEL is a the outline of an engine and is it lit up? On my 03 it is on the bottom left of the spedometer.
Battery: I'd have it "load tested" at an auto parts store and make sure the connections are clean and making good contact. Doing the best I can here and I hope someone comes along who knows their stuff. I believe the Ford place could locate the problem but probably cost big bucks, but then, who knows.
We have a shop here that specializes in electrical problems and rebuilding starters, generators and alternators, so see if you have one in your area and take your Taurus by and let them take a look see. If you can't fine one ask a few auto parts stores who would be a good electrical shop to take it to. One thing for sure, you can't keep driving it the way it is because you're going to escalte the problem.

Which "superfuse" are you referring to? Give us a fuse location number and we can go from there. If you state the transmission shifts but will not move, do you mean the shift lever shifts but no transmission engagement? Please give a little more detailed information. I am afraid Johnny may be right on his diagnosis. If it was slamming into gear prior to it not moving, some internal componets are probably damaged and needs a rebuild.

I beleive the superfuse was #11. I controlled the cruise control, the horn, and the power outlet inside the car.
As for the slamming sound, that might not be an accurate represntation. When you are sitting at a red light, you step on the gas to go and it revs but doesn't move, then the tranny shifts and goes. To me it is more like a torque convertor slip, (thats old school)
Yes, what I mean is the gear shifter move, I can see it move above the box on the tranny, but it doesn't ingage the gears.
Does that help?
