Brake caliper bolt hex bit size?

Hi!

I wanted to put new brakes/rotors on the front wheels of my 92 LeSabre yesterday. Haines says that the "typical" bolt would need a torx bit. I tried to get one into the bolt, but nothing would fit. So I took a mirror and found that it needs a fairly large hex bit. Does anyone know what size? My guess is 10mm, but I'd rather not guess this case (to avoid multiple trips to the tool store.)

The correct size is T-50, you need to go to Craftsman or someplace else and get it. the other end will correctly attach to a 3/8 drive socket rachet. good luck.

The correct size for a 92 caliper pin is NOT a T-50 the pin is not a torx style!
The correct size for a 92 caliper pin is 3/8" Allen Wrench. Buy the type that fits onto your 3/8" rachet.

Thanks for your help everyone. I found this out through trial-and-error last night. (Of course everything else being metric, the caliper bolts had to be standard... :) )

I like how the bolts are constructed, though. They are a lot beefier compared to our Chrysler Town & Country.

I put on Brembo rotors and Remsa ceramic pads. One of the old rotors had a hairline fracture in it, and both were out of round. Now it's back to nice, smooth (and hopefully lest dusty) braking.
