$400 for a camshaft and camgear install what is this all about anyone ever heard of it being this expensive?

yeah, how hard is it to do this yourself? doesn't seem like you would have to take much of the engine apart...?

Sounds like a ripoff. All you have to do is take off the valve cover to expose all that stuff. It can't be that much once you do that.

you said$400 for the cam, cam gear, and install? I'd jump on it. First of all, you have to set the timing to #1 TDC (top dead center). Then, mark and take off timing belt. Next take off valve cover. Next, unbolt and remove rocker arm assembly. You will have to remove the cam gear I believe before the cam can be removed. Then, remove the cam. So,then you lube up the new cam and lay into its bores. next, attach the cam gear and align it to the timing marks. Next re-attach he rocker assembly and perform a valve adjustment. Then reset the timing and make sure everything is done right. Finally, put on valve cover w/ new gasket. $400, sure man. I'd pay it.
