My a/c compressor is going out again for the 2nd time in 4 months. So instead of replacing it again, I was wondering if there is an alternate belt to use to bypass the a/c compressor. part #'s would be appreciated. Local part stores include Napa, Advance, Oreilly and stealership. it is a '97 with the 2.4L

You didn't mention why your compressor went bad. Was it because of the clutch or was there another problem? If it was for another problem inside the compressor, you don't need to replace rour (unless you need to because it's getting old and needs it) you could leave things the way that they are. The reason that I say this is because, if the clutch is not the problem and the pulley is spinning freely sith the A/C off, you are saving yourself time and money.
