First off I have a stock engine 90 hp (sucks) in a 98 civic cx hatch. I have it looking great on the outside with numerous modifications. Check it out!

O.K. now for the sad part. My cold air intake runs below the car right behind the front grill. Well I was driving through some bad weather and hit the biggest damn puddle their ever was. Needless to say I sucked up a buttload of water. About 1/2 gallon. My engine is now at the shop hydrolocked.
Now for the happy part. INSURANCE! Hahaha... They said since it was water damage they will cover it. I have a $500 deductible and now I am getting a b16a motor with tranny and ECU.
My question: Will this be a rather easy engine swap? Do I need any mounting kits? Should I keep the AEM cold air intake and invest in a bypass valve or just go with a short air intake? Please help me with anything you have comments on. Also how much better is it to get an LSD tranny with it? Thanks!

It will be a very nice car *if* you take that "FURIOUS" banner and fog lights out. The Fast and the Furious is played, that banner is corny as hell. If you have a 98 Civic get the 170 HP B16A form Japan or any 160 HP B16A from a US del Sol VTEC, or Civic Si coupe, and no swap mount kit is required. Get the 160HP B16A from Japan, and you will need a kit. Get the bypass-it fucking works.

The fog lights look nice in that bumper, and that bumper would look like shit without them. But I agree, ditch the banner please.

I say you go with the AEM CAI and put the bypass valve on it. You'll get better power and you won't have to worry about puddles anymore. Also, i think you need one engine mount for the b16 swap. Just the rear one. I think you can just use the 99-00 si one.

yes please ditch the banner. I really like your car otherwise! That by pass shit is lame. it eliminates cold air intake theory. It does work for keeping water out though. I would do an Injen intake if I were you. I wouldnt have my AEM other than the fact I got it cheap. I dont have a bypass on it. The B16a2 will be nice in your car. and yes it is worth it to get the LSD. And im not expert on newer civic swaps but I do believe you need the rear mount as stated earlier.
