Well, my car is so close to getting all done, had a new exhaust manifold on, new reinforced couplers and some more welding. And today it overheated a little, so I pop the hood and my right fan infront of the turbo and exhaust manifold is melted. And when I mean melted its ALL gone. So, I could get some fans off a eclipse from the junk yard but I was thinking, can I get some metal blades ones? I mean I will be running a bigger turbo soon so I want something that will hold. I never heard of any one making any but if they are can some one direct me to a link where I can buy some.

Thanks guys

I was looking through Summits site and found a few dual fan setups for bigger trucks and such. They used aluminum blades and a believe an aluminum shroud as well. These were 28.5" wide whereas the FAL's that are a direct bolt in to our cars are 26" wide. I'm not sure how well you are at customizing stuff but you could probably make your own mounts to adapt these fans to fit into a DSM... I think its very possible with a little do it yourself engineering.

If I could make some kind of a shield for aftermarket exhaust manifold it would greatly decrease the temperature on the fans but I really doubt that. I cant believe people with bigger turbos dont run into the heat problems that I am running into. I saw that mercedes uses metal fans so I am thinking of trying something with that. That temperature tape also might help BUT it doesnt cover the turbo which also produces great amount of heat. Any more ideas ?

I would try the header wrap and one of those turbo heat deflectors then. It looks like a giant oven mit or something. lol

I was looking at those FAL fans on summit.com and it says "does not fit Gen 2 with turbo." What kind of shit is that?

Yeah they do, I have mine setting here and it fits fine unless your running like a gt42r or some huge shit. lol They are like only 2" thick or something. Our stock fans are 4" I think. They'll fit.
