Key Fob doesn't work in the heat of the day

I've got a strange one for you all.
The key fob only works in the cool of the morning/evening, fall/winter months, etc. Seems like when it is over 80 degrees outside, it doesn't work.
Any thoughts?

I would suspect that the fob has been dropped one too many times and you have a broken solder joint inside the fob, likely where the battery contact/mount is soldered to the board.
Do you happen to have a second fob? If so, try it out for a few days and see if it functions they same. If it does, then I'd suspect a bad solder joint in the keyless entry system (part of the Generic Electronic Module - GEM, maybe?).

Tried it...I have even replaced the battery in the one that wasn't used over the years.
I'm perplexed....how this thing has me jammed up with opening doors for my wife, getting things in and out of the back seat...the trunk. UghH! I can't open the trunk until I unlock the door (in which the driver's door is the only key hole), as the alarm will sound.
If anyone can help...I would be most grateful.

What year is your LS and does it have the remote entry keypad on the driver's door? If so, does that work when the fob doesn't? If it does not, then the problem is definitely in the car. Of course, if you've tried two key fobs and neither work, that pretty much points at something in the car.
If you post what year your car is and whether it is the V6 or V8 (I don't know if it matters) I can check the service manual and see where the likely next suspect would be.

This is the key to diagnosis. ^^^^^^^^ Does the keypad malfunction as well?
Sounds like the Keyless Entry Module is :flipa: up.

I don't believe the keypad was available on the LS until 2003, so I expect the car in question does not have the keypad. Bummer.
Hmmm, so do you have access to a spectrum analyzer and DMM? :)
