I have a 2000 Intrigue 3.5. I'm getting ready to change the alternator and found a pretty detailed process on here from a while ago. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyplace that had a few pics of the process? Do I need any other tools other than a socket set? Would this be a good time to change the coolant as well?

This is a great time to change your coolant. The job is fairly simple. I have done it personally a couple of times. First time was to get the original one off becuase of the the bad regulator. Secong time was because the wire harness connector broke or would not make good contact with the plug in the alternator. You will need some help getting the belt off. You need someone to release the tension while you pull the belt off. Good time to change that to if you have not done so. No special tools are required. Guess you have already got your alternator? If not, you may have a hard time finding one at your local parts store. If you don't have one, and have trouble finding one excepto from the dealer, email me and I can help you out.

for the love of God dont buy parts from the dealer, unless you just enjoy getting reamed.
buy from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com
or http://www.rockauto.com

Update: Changed the alt today, what a pain in the @$$. Getting the fan shifted around and out of place to make room was by far the worst part. Also could not find diagram under hood or in owners manual for serp belt, had to draw one myself. This car was really designed to make you go to the dealer or shop for everything. Gotta do coolant flush tomorrow, at least that should be fairly simple.
