Here's one of my classics. It's a Cord done with Prismacolor pencils on Stonehenge paper. I took the reference at a local classic car show. When I got the car and people finished I liked it the way it was so I didn't add a background. I thought it made the car stand out more.

Wow. That is very very VERY photorealistic. I'm curious about how much time you have on this picture?
(Nice, unique subject choice by the way...)

Thanks guys, To answer a couple of your questions, I have about 40 hours in a drawing like this. From making the initial sketches, transfering it to the drawing paper and then doing all of the coloration. As far as the tutorials, I have done a couple that were posted on the Wet Canvas site. Here is one that I did for the 55 Chevy.

If you just want a lot of information on colored pencil drawing and how to use them here's the link to the whole colored pencil reference library.

If you have any other questions for me please feel free to ask anything. I know how frustrating it was when I was learning and had nobody to ask.

Beautiful! I am a big fan of the Auburn, Cord, Duesenburgs since I'm from Indiana. We do the Kruse Auburn auction every Labor Day. We restore Model A Fords and usually take a couple every year to sell. This year we'll have a '32 Roadster there. Anyway, great work once again! B

Great artwork.
Not added a background does make the car image seem to pop out to the viewer.
Justing including the grass covered by the drop shadow is a very nice effect.
Also, thanks for the links.

Beautiful :D
I've probably asked you this before, but do you find it harder to work with red/orange/yellow hues as opposed to cool colors?

Thanks Alex, I don't have a problem with warms and cools per se but I do have a problem with certain colors. The light blues and greys don't seem to lay down a smooth as the other colors. I find that you have to use a different technique when using those colors to get them to blend well. As far as the other cools (dark blues and greens) and warms ( reds, oranges etc.) they seem to layer really well. The other thing I noticed is that some colors are very unforgiving. I mean that if you put a color down too early you can never get it to blend out so you have to put a light wash under it. I mainly find this in working with portraits and using a dark red or orange too early.
