01 supercrew lower ball joint

I can do most anything always try to stay away from garages. Ive never changed a lower ball joint. My question is do i need a puller or a press to get this done? Also not sure about taking 4 wheel drive shaft out from wheel because theres not enough clearance upward to get it out. SHOULD I TRY THIS OR NOT??????? dave

You will need a press to do the job. The upper ball joint will get seperated and then the axle will come out of the hub.
