98 Taurus coolant probs

I have a 98 taurus that has a black rod that is connected by hoses from the coolant reservoir to something on the drivers side of the car. It has a hole in it, and I need to find a replacement part. I don't know what it's called though.

Here is a pic:

The part number says:

F8DE-8A595-BA AND 112541

These part numbers are on the brackets with the holes.

The hole is right in the middle where the silver spot is.

If anyone can give me any info about this part,I would gladly appreciate it. You all are always very helpful, and I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge and insight.

Thanks,
Nickey

Not sure what the hose is called, or what its purpose is. Are you certain that is for the cooling system? It looks more like a hose for the power steering.

You may be able to take the assembly to a local hose shop and have a replacement made, often times for far less than what a hose assembly will cost from the dealership.

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the cooling system. It is connected by rubber hoses on either end. On the passenger side it connects to the coolant reservoir bottle, and on the driver side it connects to somewhere under the engine. My car was overheating on the highway, and when the hood was open, it was spraying water from the hole in this black rod/hose thing.

My husband did go have the nuts/bolts/hose/hydraulics shop here in town make another piece for it- but it's straight and he made new bracket/mounts things to connect it to the engine (I think it's bolted to the engine - it's bolted to something big in middle of the car). My concern just is that this piece they made won't hold up or will rust and cause more probs. Of course, that's just me being mechanically DUMB, so I dont' understand how it all works... and my husband often doesn't have much patience to explain it all to me. :o)

Thank you for you insight and help, Rod. I appreciate it... and I know my husband appreciates it too! lol!

It's leaking from the silver crimp, right??? Usually you cut the crimp off and replace just the hose, unless the metal pipe is actually leaking.. the crimped fitting is used by the factory in place of a hose or other type clamp... most people don't realize that they are replaceable, to look at it you think that it's a non-repairable item... used a lot on heater bypass hoses also

No, it's not leaking from the crimp. Actually, only one side had a crimp, the other side just had a hose clamp (?) on it. It is the metal pipe that is leaking. There is a small hole right near the bottom of the 'U' bend.

My husband had a new pipe made and mounted it on the, I think, engine, and attached it with hose clamps on either end.

So far, no leaks today, but I've only driven just to work.

Thanks for replying!
