security light on at all times

I have a 99 Lesabre. The security light is on at all times. I have worked on this thing to the point where I know the cylinder lock wires are broke. I've installed a resistor in place of the key. It is 10 ohms less than the key measurement. The car stars and runs, but the security light remains on. Per GM I should replace the Theft deterrent module. Disconnecting this does put the light out. But, the car was starting with the wires broke. I believe the memory in the module needs to be reset (erased) and then maybe the module will read the resistor value and put the light out. Anyone know if I can reset the memory on the Theft Deterrent Module without going to the dealer. And of course there is no guarantee they can do anything to fix me up, unless I spend hundreds.

Cycle the ignition to the run position 3 times for 30 min. each.
Also it is helpful to remove the fuses for your DRL to save the battery.
This may solve you rissue tho if the car starts and runs with the passlock disabled all together tho :dunno:

Do you mean 30 minutes or 30 seconds? Where did you get this algorithm for resetting the VATS?

According to the diag tree I have here, if the light does not go out after the theft module is removed, then you may have a prblem with the content theft deterrent system (CTD), a short, or a faulty RFA (remote function actuator).
You may not have a content theft system (ie factory alarm) installed. I suppose you do not, you did not mention it.

Thanks for all the help. I tried the three 30 minute cycles ( actually I just took three 30 minute trips and hooked up the security light feed from the module and the light works fine now. I guess the module must sense for a number of cycles that the system interface is ok before it resets.
