Hey everyone. I just went through the major undertaking of replacing a burnt exhaust valve on my 90' AWD Talon TSi. I lapped all the other valves in and replaced all the valve seals for good measure.
When I took this (only running on 3cylinders beast) apart it had an oil leak near the crank pulley. There was so much oil all over the place it was very hard to tell where it was coming from. So I did the valve job, head gasket and I think all the seals one can get to when doing a timing belt job. I replaced the crank seal, oil pump seal and balance shaft seal......I just got it running yesterday.......AND IT LEAKS!!! A lot....like it did before! Needless to say I am a quite pissed off right now.
Did I miss something here? I even replaced all the valve cover gaskets....fixed the leaking PS lines...etc. I basically did it right....I replaced what I could while it was apart...... Where the hell is this leak coming from? I dont think i have it in me to go back in at this time.....that was a big fucking job and I thought I was going to have a leak free ride. What gives here guys? What did I miss? I'm much more than a compentent mechanic so have at it with the tech details.
Thanks in advance and take care.....back to my leaky Talon :banghead:

could be oil pan or rear main seal?
Those places leak a lot if they are leaking.
but if you say its near the crank pulley I dunno.
Its kinda hard to tell without seeing your car on a hoist.

Naw its coming from behind the timing belt cover so it is not the rear main seal thats on the other side of the car......its coming out near the Crank pulley/behind the cover. It could be any of the seals behind that cover. Question is which seal is it since I've replaced ALL of them. DO these cars leak from typical places is the question? WHat did I miss. This isnt good.....
DO I have to go back in take the cover off and run the engine? This is a joke and a bad one at that

Well I probably figured it out. I should have dropped the oil pan and taken the OIL PUMP off the engine. This is the front engine case that houses the oil pump.....I wish I knew that while I had it apart. Its got to be leaking from there. There is nowhere else it could be coming from. Ill let you guys know if that cures it.....if anyone cares to know. Doesn't seem like too many / any of you have this problem which has me wondering WTF again. Guess I'm the "lucky one". Time to turn some wrenches.

I've never heard of a leaky front case being such a big problem. Every DSM has one main problem, like my RS doesn't like the accessory belt. No matter how many I put on, what I do, it always seems to jump and then blow the belt every now and then. Your main problem must be a leaky front case. But then again it's a DSM so anything is possible.
