I noticed that my maintainnace required light was red in my 98 civic. It was time for an oil change so i thought thats why it went from green to red. I got the oil change done and, its still red. How am i supposed to know what type of maintaince its requiring? someone told me that they just forgot to reset the switch. is this true? help please

The light will change from green to red every 7500 miles regardless of what maintenance you to to your car (or lack therof), so you can just reset it.

I have a 99 civic dx, is that light supposed to be on at all times? The light is off on mine.

No, it comes on every 7500 miles, like what was previously posted.

I believe the Original Poster was talking about the little small light in the bottom of your instrument panel. This is basically a little counter that turns color from green to yellow to red. It is not indicative of anything wrong in your car.
The light you are referring to, I think, is the "check engine light" this should not come on unless something is wrong. This light will come up when you first turn the ignition but should turn off once the car starts. But if this light stays on, something is wrong with your car. So you should be happy that it is indeed off.
