Has anyone ever replaces the top rear brake light on a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LT. My top LED brake light does not work and I was wondering if there is a fuse for the brake light or does the unit itself have to be replaced? Thanks a lot for your help.

I presume you are writing about the third brake light above the tail gate. I have a 2001, not sure if the same design but is LED. Remove the unit, should be a sealed one piece unit. A couple of screws and has a pig tail plug harness. If you have a voltage meter, test the dsconnected pig tail when someone stepping on the brake. If you have voltage, than you know the LED is burnt, very common, otherwise a problem somewhere else. I found mine used on Ebay for about $75.00, other wise over a $125.00 at the dealer.

look behind your lite after you get brake lite out where bulds and there just the plug in. when you get your brake lite loose from there thers a wire plugin like hes telling you it's really simple to unplug but he's calling it a pig tail because that's what it is called.

The plug is recessed back inside the roof. There should be a rubber plug. Pop it out and gently pull on the wires, the plug itself should come out shortly after the rubber plug.

the plug is pushed way down in there. pull the rubber gromet out and gently pull until you get the connector out.
FYI...
for those that havent bought a replacement yet, chevck ebay and amazon. you can get new replacements for about $50.
