Sqeaking when in reverse.

I have a `96 Explorer that has started to make a squeaking sound but only when going in reverse. I know it's not in the wheels because it squeaks faster than the wheels rotate. Is this a sign that one of the universal joints could be going bad or that the slip yoke need to be lubed?

I would check the U-joints. One might be seizing up on you.
