Rough Acceleration

I just recently replaced my 2000 Expedition's spark plugs because I was at time of acceleration my car would jerk back and forth. My check engine light came on and indicated that I needed a new EGR Valve. I replaced it and the jerking stopped for a while, now the light is back on and my car started doing the same thing. Does anyone know why it does this at acceleration?

The code for the EGR valve was prbably not a bad valve, but the DPFE sensor. As far as the jerking/bucking goes, I would hook a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail and monitor the pressure while driving. If it drops during the surge, then the pump may be going bad or a restricted fuel filter/line.

I also replaced the fuel filter, at the same time when I replaced the plugs. So do you think the problem is the fuel, pump. Also I noticed that when I'm at a red light, the RPMs started dropping almos to the point of cutting my engine off. What is that all about?

If the check engine light is on I would have the codes pulled first, they re usually a good indication of whats going on.

try looking at the EGR connection behind the intake manifold on the passenger side, directly under the IAC valve, there's a 90 degree rubber connecter there that may be rotted away causing a bad vacuum leal, happened on my 97 expo, and you can see it by looking at it from the drivers side, with your head right at the same level as the drivers side fender, look across the back of the engine

Okay fellas, it's doing it again. My check engine light came on again. Now it's bucking like a wild horse. I need to replace my brakes because it now sounds like the disk is grinding. What I find interesting is the fact that it's only grinding on the front passenger side which is the one I had the caliper changed. Is this just a coincidence?

If you have already replaced the plugs, have the codes read and if it is another cylinder miss, replace the coil for that cylinder. Also check on the passenger side rear coil (#4) for coolant leaking from the heater hose down on the coil. If so cure the leak on the heater hose while you are doing the repair.

Alright I am looking for the 90 degree bend and connector is fine. But how tight should the connection be, bearcat329 mentioned that it had to make a vacuum seal. I do have to mention that it is not tight enough to make a vacuum. What do I do?

Okay i don't see any visible leaks but I wil keep looking.

Got the codes, its an insufficient flow of air for the EGR. Also there is a leak in the gas tank. I've had this problem diagnosed since 3 years. I am ashmed that I let it go so far. Well I'm taking it to my mechanic to replace a canister that he said sucked air out of the tank. Also he might replace the hose that goes connected to the EGR valve.
