You could always use some fiberglass, body filler, sand paper and do it right.. or if your into this project, try using tweed fabric.

I would never use that inside a car, the texture is FUGLY.

If its used right it can look pretty good.

Derk_eliso
08-22-2006, 03:43 PM
yup... maybe my painters tape sucks.. or maybe I should have let it dry longer. I dunno I let it dry overnight and I'm getting ready to go try again here in like an hour... so we'll see..if it comes off, i'll just repaint it and use some plastic or something... however...mark my words, I'll get the job done, lol.

my99cavy
08-22-2006, 03:47 PM
haha yeah I definatley suggest letting it dry over night before messing around with it. Learned the hard way. lol

Cavalier2000

Derk_eliso
08-22-2006, 04:31 PM

Tweed if used right can look very good IMO. Here is a couple more examples

my99cavy
08-23-2006, 03:06 PM
show offs, lol.lol those arent our cars with the tweed in them. especially the one I posted. Now do you really think that I would have heart designs on the inside of my car??

Lances133
08-23-2006, 04:20 PM
Okay, the examples with flames and stuff are cool but the one Cody sent that looked like the whole interior was tweed, thats just plain ugly IMO. How would you do designs and stuff, somehow make them and then just tightly lay the tweed over them?

my99cavy
08-23-2006, 04:34 PM
to get the designs in the tweed you take like a stiff cushion material and then lay the tweed over. after the tweed is on then you take like a puddy knife or whatever and trace around the cushion underneath. do you follow that or is it confusing?? lol

Lances133
08-23-2006, 04:36 PM
Clear, crystal....clear. Hmmm, maybe i'll try something like that with my ceiling. Do the designs only work well with tweed? No right? I could use whatever?

my99cavy
08-23-2006, 04:53 PM
you can do it with just about anything really.. leather looks fuckin hot!!! IMO

How do you set it tho? You can't obviously staple gun all around it, hot glue gun or something?

my99cavy
08-23-2006, 05:18 PM
How do you set it tho? You can't obviously staple gun all around it, hot glue gun or something?well if you want to do it the correct way then you use spray glue and then lay your material over it and trace around that pattern.

I have no doubt that My99 will  haha very funny.

Cavalier2000

looks good what kind of paint did you use and did you just tape everything off

Derk_eliso
08-24-2006, 09:54 PM
for the doors, I just put one strip of ptape and stuck a sheet to it. I painted it all white first...then the bottom red overlapping onto the white, and then I taped the bottom half and touched up the top white.. For everything else you see, it was taken out of the car and painted..minus the top platic/vinyl piece, it's like attached to the whole front end, so I just used plastic, and cardboard and lots of tape, to do that part, lol.

Derk_eliso
08-24-2006, 09:56 PM
ohh!!! the side mirrors. I thought you meant the mirrors themselves..yeah i'm an idiot. I think it's a combination from the flash and the curve..cuz it feels smooth..ish, lol.

Hey derk, how'd you paint the lower dash? Like where the glovebox is and next to the glovebox and under the steering wheel? Did you just paint it inside the car?

Cavalier2000
08-25-2006, 01:30 PM
i did my glove box thingy and took the entire thing out, paint the handle blue and the front white, the steering wheel thing comes out easliy

Derk_eliso
08-25-2006, 02:49 PM
I took out everything, except for the top plastic piece below the windsheild, and then the lower part around the glove box and above your knees. I just put a sheet of cardboard over the windsheld, and draped a huge piece of plastic over the seats and doors and just painted it inside. There's a few flaws but I don't feel like fixing it.

Lances133
08-25-2006, 04:30 PM
Well....looks like I'm gonna be practicing my contortionist skills and sanding all the lower stuff while bending and flexing myself inside the interior....nah I'll just take the seats out. Good enough for me!

Cavalier2000
08-25-2006, 05:48 PM
yep yep and make for damn sure that you tape EVERYTHING that you don't want tape on, and i'm not kidding, if you do want paint on it make sure it is covered. seen people cover the complete inside and then the over spray hits thier outside paint

Derk_eliso
08-25-2006, 05:59 PM
funniest thing happened today, I was attempting to fix my speedo, and once I put her back on I went to take my car for a test drive (disassembled) and I ran over my Dash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....!! yeah, that sucks, lol. I chipped my beautiful paint off the top of it where it slid under the gravel, and I broke the chip off inside the harness for my dimmer panel. However some good may come out of this, cuz I have an idea...I want to make a switch out of the spot where my dimmer panel was... Possibly make like a switch for my future neons and one for my N2O....hmm, anyone wanna help, lol.

Derk_eliso
08-25-2006, 06:02 PM
omg I could also hook up inside neons to come on when the door opens...who was just talking about that like a couple weeks ago???oh well. anyway, I wanted to ask. Does anybody else have a GIANT F**KING CRACK down the middle of your dash? cuz like mine is really anyoing me...so I decided to fix it. In about 2 hours I'll take a picture of the finished product to show you all, but for now I must go...farewell.

Cavalier2000
08-25-2006, 06:05 PM
you mean by the windshield
