What do you guys think is a better car for the money a supercharged cobalt or a srt-4? I've test driven the cobalt and I loved it but havent driven the srt. I was set on the cobalt but then I got to thinking that I dont know much about blowers and an srt is still turbo and I know alot about that. Any opnions?

I like the srt ALOT, but I would try something different.

I vote the cobalt. Superchargers are real nice. Especially the whine that it makes at WOT. Its really sexy

Srt-4. Eventhough everyone and their mother has one, it's still a great platform to work with :2cents:

Well I think I'll test the srt-4 before I make a decision. This is the thing though. The only racing that I'd be doing is some autox and maybe some track but probably not to much if any dragging. Also I'm getting a rocket to so whatever car I get I'm getting because it has the options that I want and economy not because I could make it really fast

A glorified neon or a glorified "cavalier"? I'd choose a older Evo 8. I have yet to hear reliability issues about them unless you modify the piss out of them.

That would be great but I have yet to find one under $25k and the MOST I'd spend is around $20

Damn you guys. After doing some searching I can pick up a '03 srt-4 with the stage 2 package rims and a viper alarm for $15,5 with 20k miles.
EDIT: anyone know what year they started putting in the quaifes?

You know me Scott, SRT4 FTW. You will forget its heritage once you take a pull. I had some fuck head in a SS s/c to play with me when I was in the talon one day. Pretty sure an SRT would screw it. I think they are both mean looking cars but I have a thing for 4 doors. I agree with E-Klips, Evo 8 owns all. Thats what I will be getting after college. You should be able to find one for around 20-22k if you look, I cant imagine a Cobalt SS s/c for less than that. The SRT woud be the cheaper route.

thats the car man, i love that sound and he gets that revin to 2500 rpm. so it does it when he has vac or boost, its niceeee

Yeah I would definatly say go with the SRT....they are going to be much more familiar to you since you already know turbo setups....superchargers are cool...my dad has a supercharged Mini Cooper S....that car is bad ass....and it sounds great....but it still doesnt compare to the sound of a turbo....and you can make SRTs fast for pretty cheap....

You know what else you could do, a Mazdaspeed 6. 2.3l turbo AWD. I dont know how much they are though...

SRT-4 all the way.

It's funny, even Dodge was a tad embarassed about the Neon nameplate...they dropped it altogether when they came out with the SRT-4... which is still a Neon on steroids, but that's besides the point...it's fast as balls. :)

gthompson97

Neither. Mazda 6 or a Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible. Those are my 2 favorite "reasonable" cars right now.

I agree, SRT4, I have driven one, and they are pretty fast for what they are. They have some of the best bang for their buck.

But. . . . if you are looking for a fast car for under 25k, you can always pick up an 03 cobra coupe ;) Can't go wrong there, balls out fast and cheap to mod.

gthompson97
08-14-2006, 03:43 PM
Is there any differences between them? I know nothing about the SRT-4, basically because I HATE neons and still see it as a beefed up neon, and therefore pay no attention to them.

Yeah, and expensive to keep fueled up.
