Isc/iac '97 Rs?!?

Ok, here's the lowdown... I have had my CEL on for sometime... the code says IAT Circuit high current... so I replaced the IAT (upon inspection the sensor was definitely fried)... after replacing it, the CEL was off... the car never seemed right... the car drove maybe 45 miles, and the CEL came on again... same code... I re-examined the sensor... it was fine

After much reading (thanks VFAQ)... I decided to check the ISC (car idled really high, and took forever to drop back down) ... I went ahead and pulle the throttle body... it was filthy... so I cleaned it, and pulled out the ISC and looked at it, it was fully extended, and wouldn't move... I tested it (it only had 4 pins, not 6) and the first two pins read 1 ohm, 2and 3rd read 56 ohms, the 3rd and 4th pins read 1 ohm... I think it's safe to say that the sensor is dead... I have gone online to find another ISC, but have been unable to find another sensor like mine, the others are all the 6-pin version... any help

P.S.- I pulled the ISC connector (while running) and the car still idled rough, just like it was when it was plugged in, no difference...

Pulling the ISC off while the car is running doesn't make a big difference. Mine works fine and if I pull it off, it idles a little rough but not too bad. All the info gets saved into the ECU on where the idle is good at the last time, or if the ECU was reset, at the point of factory setting.

Did you reset the ECU after installing the IAT? You may want to do that if you haven't. Probably won't make a difference, but my preference is to reset the ECU each time I replace a sensor, especially something critical as that. Just pull the (-) off the battery.

Goto Autozone and pickup the sensor there. I'm trying to think how many pins mine has. Now after looking at pics, mine has 4 also. Pepboys had the exact one I needed. Try there. I don't have any spares of those laying around. Sorry.

Actually now that I think about it, only the 4g63 (maybe others) uses the 6-pin ISC. For ours, the IAC is a 4-pin. When searching, looks for "420a IAC" and you'll find them then.

yeah, the 4g63 and 6g72 (I miss my Stealth) uses the 6-pin... I actually found the 4-pin at Advance last night... and I found a few stock pics of new ones... and sure enough mine is completely gone... mine if fully extended and won't retract... thanks for the help...
I'm gonna get mine at Advance... gotta love the C4 commercial discount (usually 10%)

ok, I had replaced the IAC, but then the car ran like shit, and couldn't find an idle... I put the old one back in, and it began functioning...

I have a CEL, it is bringing up P0113: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Input...

I noticed that the IAT and the MAP sensors are on the same harness... could my MAP be bad???

-I replaced the IAT a few months ago... I don't think it's that... plz, help... I'm trying to sell car, and can't w/ a CEL... but I wanna do it right... plz... and Thanks
