Automatic Gear shift

1998 F-150. Went to drive truck one morning and put the gear shifter in R and it didn't go anywhere. The gear shifter is off line. P R N D 2 1. I had to put it in N for reverse and 2 for drive. Everything has shifted down one notch. D is neutral. I don't understand. The trk drives fines and shifts fine.

You can adjust that below the instrument cluster. It is not a fun job.
