How was it "cleaned"? Do you know the computer was damaged for sure? If all the gauges would drop down at once and periodically pop-back to life, that is an easy fix (and not the computer).

well we were not sure if the computer was the real problem to the gauges... but yes the computer was damaged... my father had difficulties trying to get the computer out of the casing, and scratched it with a screw driver, lol. im not sure how he cleaned it or what with but its def damaged...went through 2 lines... and about impossible to come by except for brand new at the jeep dealer!! but why do you think the gauges dont work? we have tried about everything that we could think of.. thanks for the help.

The connector behind the gauges doesn't contact well. Remove the gauge cluster, bend the mount that holds the connector on the firewall side up or down a bit, and put it back together. This is a really common problem. As for the computer, good luck...

yeah, we did find a computer for 250 bucks, which wasnt the problem... so yeah, i guess i will try doing what you said... is there any way it could be the ignition, cause when i turn the key too far they shut off, and if you play with the key ignition you can get them to come back on sometimes...

I guess it could be. Does the dash drop dead like the ignitioin is off? What do you mean you turn the key too far? Before you tear apart the dash, the issue I had would cause the gauges to drop, and return in a random looking fashion.
