Some of your poor souls have already heard me blabber on about this for an hour or more, but after 2 days the novelty still hasn't worn off!!!! :D

Omigosh, so I'm trudging through my work day when this (very nice-looking) man comes around the corner and with a very muted and soft-spoken voice asks something that sounds akin to an American saying "Pahdon me, but ave you got any bowls?" to which all 3 of us working were taken aback... So we asked him to repeat himself, and he did so in much the same manner... But me being the cool, world-cultured individual of the 3 said "Why yes, our golf ball selection is limited, but right here... by the way, what accent?" And boy was I ever thrilled when he said "New Zealand!" :flash: I got this huge sh!t-3ating grin on my face and said cheerfully, "Kia Ora!" He replied something back, but I had to tell him I wasn't that good... :D He was very surprised that I knew anything about New Zealand. Naturally, I had all of the Kiwis to thank for it!!! He also looked surprised when I said that I spoke with many a Kiwi online... I just giggled and sold him his "bowls" :lol2:

I still had another 3 hours of work remaining on my shift when he came in, and I was still buzzing when I got home! Sure, the moment was marred by the other two asking me where New Zealand was  but I was just sooooooooo thrilled to meet a true, honest to goodness Kiwi!!!!!!!!!!!!

We used to have 2 Kiwi sisters in my church. They were the sweetest people in our group. They were in the US on visas for school. One of the guys in our group ended up marrying one of the sisters. Then when school/visas were done all 3 moved back to NZ.

One of the english teachers at my H.S. was born in NZ. He's a full-blooded Maori, and though his last name is Tawa, I can't spell (or pronounce) his first name, which had a full 18 letters. Toanotaguntarawa or something like that.

That's for sure!

I thought you met someone on the Kiwi Crew and I was wondering why it was such a big deal! I still don't get it! Have you met no one other than Americans or something???

Funny story though! :hehehe:

I know plenty enough what a Kiwi fruit is, for those of you who thought that's what I meant... But I've got an incredible fascination with Oz and now also NZ (thanks to AF :p) so meeting someone from there was quite an experience for me!

I've been to Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and I had a lay-over in London if that counts... so meeting international people is not entirely new to me. On the other hand, I don't have a fascination with Europe. No offense intended, but most of Germany was like Pennsylvania only they spoke "real" German instead of Penna "Dutch". New Zealand has Ponga trees and exotic life-forms that I don't have in my back yard.

I don't know... it's just another one of my fantasies... :o
