we need help please!! 96' jetta trek

I opened accidently da passenger side door and da alarm went off. I went to lock da driver door for the alarm to shut off and it didn't work. Da alarm went crazy and I can't turn on da car at all. Hence the car has been sitting for a few months while we had some people try to fix it. Nothing. One of our friends came to try to fix it today and he was able to finally disable the alarm from going off everytime the battery was connected to the car. Now when we connect and reconnect the battery and he is in the car turning the ignition, the gauges turn on and the mileage displays. The car although will not turn on. We figured the battery needed a jump cause the cat hadn't been started in so long. We got a jump from a neighbor and it still doesn't work. The ignition won't turn all the way so that the car could even start and the key won't lock or unlock the driver or passenger side doors.....any suggestions?? We'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

The starter has been disabled by the alarm going off. What did your friend do to stop the alarm?
