HI, I just bought a 1992 plymouth laser, and I had a couple of questions.
The car has 133k automatic tranny, which was suppose to have been rebuilt, but is there anything I have to watch out for, that is commen with these cars?
Any advise would be great,
Oh and it has the 1.8 in it

With those kind of miles on it I would give it a nice little routine maintainance. New spark plugs and wires, new timing belt, change the oil and filter, change the tranny fluid, change or clean the air filter... Those things should be the only things you need to do for right now unless you see signs of other problems developing.
Oh yeah, and welcome to the world of DSM's.

Throw it away j/k. Try to do all the tune up. Change all the belt and fluid, do compression, and take it easy on the car, BTW No fartcan, no wing, no body kit, it automatic man.... take it easy. BTW welcome to the forum, and put all the information about the car on your sig. BTW I like this new guy  .

Hello, thanks for the response. The guy I bought it from told me that the timing belt had just been replaced, when the transmission was rebuilt. but i will check everything else. If i check the timing belt, is there something i should look for to tell if is new or not?
Thanks,
KRis

Its really hard to tell if it has recently been replaced or 20k miles ago or maybe even longer... It is recommended that you change a timing belt at least every 60k miles. You could check for cracking or stretch marks in them. Make sure that it is nice and taunt when you try to move it. A loose timing belt could be the result of a worn timing belt or a worn out auto-tensioner. If the timing belt jumps timing you'll end up bending your valves. Its pretty much the most important thing to always check on. Check it as regularly as you would check your oil. (Hopefully its often. :p)

Okey, I got up this morning, went out and bought a new air filter, got to the gas station, and the car wouldn't start. I just heard the relay click, but no starter or selinoid. I pulled the starter, which i must say was the easiest starter to pull i have ever worked with. took it up and it tested good. I also took the battery, which was drained down, and I replaced the turminals, As soon as I replaced the terminals it started, but the alternator was tested in the car running just over 13 volts, they said it will be okey for a while. Tomarrow I will work on the spark plugs and such.
Does anyone know where the cheapest place to buy an alternator is? and if 13 is really enought, or if i should spend the money and replace it now.
THanks
Kris

Autozone would be your best bet for a cheap altenator... Personally I would change it just for a safe feeling. lol

Thanks for the advise, I just was hoping I wouldn't have to spend 150 dollars for an alternator right away, but I think you are right. piece of mind.
